Healthcare CIO Summit 2008

As an important part of its eEurope initiative, the European Commission has identified healthcare as a major strategic target area for improvement of the lifestyles and social welfare of European citizens. Healthcare is vitally important economically as it impacts directly on the competitiveness of European states – and occupational health is rapidly emerging as a key area of interest for industry and commerce.

At the same time, healthcare delivery processes are undergoing radical transformation in all developed economies of the world. This is driven by a combination of government and consumer pressures, advances in medical technology, and the impact of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT).

This provides Europe with the opportunity to lead many of these important changes. Western economies are converging towards healthcare systems that combine the best of private and socialised medicine. At the same time, healthcare delivery systems (and the ICT that underpin them) are moving towards more widely accepted standards in terms of procedures, protocols, pharmaceuticals, supplies and medical devices.

Healthcare is following other industrial models (such as finance, banking, manufacturing, and retail distribution) in evolving towards a globally accepted approach that can be supported by cost effective commodity products and services.

The main aim of the CIO Health Summit is to create cross-border healthcare co-operation resulting in a smooth exchange of information and knowledge. The successful adoption of new information and communication technology is critical when achieving this goal. Therefore, this is an opportunity to debate, benchmark and learn from other leaders in the European Health industry.

The CIO Healthcare Summit is a C-level event reserved for a maximum of 65 participants.

The format includes expert workshops, facilitated roundtables, peer-to-peer networking, and coordinated technology meetings.
